Daniel P. Douglas Cold War Sci-Fi Thriller Short Script ‘Glimpse’ Advances in 2016 Page International Screenwriting Awards

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., July 20, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — New Mexico-based writer Daniel P. Douglas announces his science fiction Cold War thriller short script, “Glimpse,” has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2016 Page International Screenwriting Awards. The awards competition was established in 2003 by an alliance of Hollywood producers, agents, and development executives.

In “Glimpse,” a small group of agents who will become known as the “Men in Black” deploy in response to an event that provides a harrowing glimpse into humanity’s apocalyptic future.

“Glimpse” revolves around an actual mass UFO sighting that occurred over the course of several days in the Farmington, New Mexico area (Four Corners region) in March 1950. A very spectacular event, yet not many people are even aware of it.

Douglas has adapted “Glimpse” into a short story with plans to expand it into a novella. The short story, also entitled “Glimpse” (ISBN: 978-0997329223), is available on Amazon.com at: https://amzn.com/B01A66ST6E.

World War II Science Fiction Suspense Thriller, 'Richter's War' Wins Best Short Screenplay at Los Angeles CineFest

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., March 29, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Daniel P. Douglas announces his script, "Richter's War," has won best short screenplay at the February 2016 Los Angeles CineFest. The science fiction World War II hardboiled detective story has previously won or placed in multiple contests during 2015 and 2016.

"Richter's War" is a 22-page script that embodies the essence of an old "Twilight Zone" episode. The science fiction screenplay holds feature film development potential and tells the story of hard-boiled Los Angeles detective of German heritage, Karol Eugen Richter, aka Geno Richter.

Richter is used to taking down Nazis for the War Department, but during one late night in February 1942, circumstances sweep him into unexpected wartime action involving something much more than the typical Nazi conspirators.

"Richter's War" draws on the mystique of hard-boiled detectives and the strangeness of the rumored enemy attack and anti-aircraft artillery barrage known as "The Great Los Angeles Air Raid." The story integrates themes of racism, government, war, society, and human nature amidst science fiction action, suspense, humor, Nazis, and an alien.

Geno Richter is a tough hero -- he must be in order to take on Nazi spies and an apparent alien invasion of Los Angeles. But he's also tough enough to take a stand against the U.S. Government's internment of people of Japanese ancestry during World War II. This dreadful episode is a key ingredient of Richter's War, and Geno rises to the occasion in his own special way.

The Richter's War short script is adapted from one of Douglas's science fiction short stories, which is published by Geminid Press, LLC and available on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CXNVPOG/) as the eBook "Richter's War: Case of the Japanese Alien."
